Non-Profit Groups
For a good cause
Southgate is a longstanding supporter of our community’s charities and non-profit organizations. We demonstrate this commitment by designating areas of the Centre for the use of non-profit groups. Southgate makes a concerted effort to accommodate as many groups as possible.
Last year, Southgate provided space to more than 75 non-profit and charitable groups for fundraising, who collectively raised more than $200,000! This is just one of the ways Southgate reaches out and gets involved with the community. Thank you to all of our customers for supporting the local charities in the Centre!
Check out the calendar to find out what charity events are planned already.
Who is eligible to use the charitable locations?
To be considered eligible for these spaces, there are several criteria considered regarding the application. First, the charity or non-profit group must have a registered Non-Profit number.Second, the organization must be raising funds solely for the organization.
How many times can we use the charitable locations?
Each organization can apply to be in Southgate for one week, twice per year. This parameter was established to give as many different organizations as possible the opportunity to use Southgate as a venue. Due to the busy retail Holiday Season, the Centre does not host any non-profit or charitable organizations during the months of November and December. Please Note: A $25 fee is charged each time you book space in the Centre for rental of a display table/cabinet.
Requirements
Should an agreement be reached, the organization must be able to produce an Insurance Certificate for Liability Coverage in the amount of two million dollars. As well, noted in Clause (10) of the contract, Ivanhoe Cambridge I Inc. and Ivanhoe Cambridge II Inc. as additional insuredsare to be included. If sales are to take place, they must be reported on the provided sales schedule. There are strict and specific rules governing such things as performances, (must not be too disruptive to surrounding retailers, for example), offering food samples and bringing in animals.
Regarding raffles, the organization is responsible for obtaining or providing a registered lottery license number.
When bringing in a vehicle, the following rules apply:
Vehicles for display must be moved into their location outside of regular Centre hours. Vehicles displayed in Southgate must comply with the Fire Departments Regulations: a locking gas cap and containing less than one gallon of fuel; the battery must be disconnected. The keys for the vehicles must be left with Southgate Centre Security Department. In an emergency where the vehicle must be moved out of the mall, ignition keys are required.
